Global Crop Maps

Set out below you will find global distribution maps of the area harvested (hectares per km - harea) and yield (tonnes per km - prod) for 175 crops. The data have been downloaded from a McGill University website and a full description is provided by Monfreda et al. (2008). As part of the PRATIQUE EU project, Maxime Dupin has manipulated and mapped the data so that the maximum in the legend (dark green) represents the top 5% of the world crop distribution (the 95% quantile). The *.png format is designed to be easily inserted into e.g. Microsoft Office programs. Please always ensure that the source (Monfreda et al. (2008) is always mentioned.
